The Bread Pedaler

Updated: Jan 6, 2020

This morning Jake and I visited the newest cafe in downtown Lancaster, The Bread Pedaler. Located on W Orange St, this delicious gem is exactly like its name suggests. The shop opens bright and early at 7am with freshly baked loaves and operates until 2pm everyday except Mondays.

Although The Bread Pedaler has only served Lancaster for a few weeks, it is certainly gaining momentum as one of the city's top rated cafes. Only time will tell, but my guess is that this place will only become more popular as locals and visitors get a taste of its authentic brunch options.

The Food:

Jake's choice, the Butcher Bowl, included home fries, bacon, sunny side up eggs, cheddar cheese, and hollandaise sauce (with a side of toast, of course.) The dish packed in so many breakfast flavors, all complimenting each other. The toast was crispy with a hint of flavor which may have come from toasting it in the same pan as the rest of the meal.

I had the Breakfast Sandwich: Fried egg, bacon, and cheese all inside rye bread toasted to perfection.

Jake's described the food at The Bread Pedaler as food his dad would make; greasy, filling, and authentic.

Authentic is really the best way to describe the taste. The ingredients are obviously high quality and the bread is so clearly crafted by someone who really knows bread.

The Atmosphere:

The best way to describe The Bread Pedaler's feel is cool without even trying. There is no gimmick or interior design marvel. There isn't a theme. There's nothing to quite definite it like decor that shouts "edgy" or "hispster." Just like the food, it is authentic and trustworthy.

The cafe isn't trying to sell you a brand experience, it's selling you damn good food.

The cafe is smaller, accommodating a total of 15-20 people at a time. The interior works with natural lighting and wood tables. The self service table with coffee and silverware kind of helps the cafe feel like you are welcomed to make yourself at home.

I can't say enough good things about this place. I hope it stays around in Lancaster for a long time and I hope all of you go check it out!
