Saturday in Lancaster || 4.7.18

Today was a chilly spring morning, perfect for adventuring out into the city for some food and shopping.

Jake and I brunched it up this morning at Goldie's, the newest cafe/bakery on East King Street. I've been eyeing it up ever since the signs went up a few months ago.

I'm VERY passionate about my breakfast foods, so I knew we had to stop in as soon as possible.

The food was good, but not as phenomenal as other places in Lancaster City. The brunch was no better than what Jake and I make at home.

But fear not! Goldie's will soon be stocking the bakery counter, which is sure to make this place stellar.

The bakery addition will make the food as great as their customer service, which was excellent.

We should have gotten the bird nests, which is described on the menu as "Crispy, shredded potato nests served with a variety of fillings. Served with two eggs, any style."

A bird nest came out for another customer and Jake and I immediately regretted our decision to keep it simple.

While we were out, Jake wanted to stop at the market to get some veggies. My favorite farm stand lady was there with some great deals for our kitchen. We made out with carrots, sugar peas, parsnips, blueberries, spinach, lemons, potatoes, and mushrooms for under $10.

I'm not super educated about what comes from the store shelves, but I just feel that these farm stand fresh veggies have to be healthier than whatever comes from places like Walmart and Giant.

And if not, at least we are supporting the local farms around Lancaster.

Jake and I also found a bunch of fresh herbs at one of the flower stands (they were only $2!!)

Jake is really into cooking with fresh spices, so we grabbed mint, rosemary, thyme, and lavender.

These little guys were definitely the best find from Central Market. The pots were sold separately, but aren't they just adorable?! AND the herbs smell so so good in the kitchen.

After feeling stuffy, cold, and sick for the past few months of winter, this morning was so refreshing. It felt sort of therapeutic to forget the stress of keeping up with the house and letting go of a hard work week to go exploring with my best friend.

It is also an amazing feeling to see spring tulips at the market and buds on all the trees after such a horrible winter.

I feel like this winter was particularly sickly and dreary. I would give anything to jump right to 70 degree weather right now, so at least we can have days like today to remind us that spring and summer are coming. THANK GOD!
