Lancaster City Restaurant Week: 2018

Updated: Jan 6, 2020

Today will conclude 2018's Restaurant Week in Lancaster City. This was our first year participating in the event and it did not disappoint.

Jake and I are obsessed with finding new places to grab a bite or sit down for a few courses. Either way we decide to dine, it is all about the experience.

There were so many restaurant deals to choose from this week that Jake and I narrowed it down to the places with a good balance between mouth watering meals and a good bang for your buck.

Here are some of our choices from this week:

1. Annie Bailey's

Restaurant Week Deal: $30 Irish dinner for two: an appetizer and two Irish Entrees

Annie B's is an A+ date night no matter what you get from their menu. I've been there for a bachelorette night, a few Taste the World tours, and Jake and I even went there for appetizers after our wedding! It's good food and a romantic atmosphere.

Everything on the menu is amazing, but Restaurant Week offered a great deal for some Irish classics. Jake ordered the classic fish and chips and I opted for chicken pie. Our appetizer was tater tots, which I highly recommend! And last but not least, we paired our food with Guinness beers.

2. Tsunami Express

Restaurant Week Deal: $10 for a salad or edamame, a hand roll of your choice (basically a sushi burrito), and a signature roll.

This place, I admit, is a little weird. The Restaurant is connected to Bruno's, which is a sub shop. Nonetheless, Tsunami Express is a great deal for great food. The staff is lovely and the restaurant is near Binns park, which is a nice little spot for a sushi picnic.

3. Almaz Ethiopian Restaurant

Restaurant Week Deal: $20 dinner for two including two entrees and two sides.

This one was probably our least favorite meal of the week. Jake and I got Siga Wat, lean bottom round traditional Ethiopian stew in spiced red sauce, and Yebeg Wat, tender leg of lamb, traditional Ethiopian stew in spiced red sauce.

Definitely interesting and a little spicy, but not the most scrumptious choice.

4. Rachel's Creperie

Restaurant Deal: Two crepes and two soups for $20

Rachel's is a spot that Jake and I have frequented ever since we started dating. This place has a beautifully unique atmosphere and of course the food is spectacular.

We went for the restaurant week deal, but truthfully the regular prices are very reasonable.

I recommend ordering any crepe, dinner or dessert style. I also recommend either a vanilla chai latte or a frozen nutella hot chocolate. You're welcome in advance!

5. Roburrito's

Restaurant Week Deal: $10 meal with a hostess ding dong.

"Roburrito's celebrates the 23rd anniversary of Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg's "Keep Their Heads Ringin'!" Originally released March 7th, 1995 and funking up the charts for 19 weeks thereafter, we continue the party this Restaurant Week by keeping your head ringing with flavor!"

Jake and I both got the Roburrito and it was well worth the trip! This is easily our new favorite burrito place in Lancaster (move over Chipotle.) There is so much quirk and cool packed into this restaurant. They have about 15 different hot sauces and sweet playlist going on while you eat.

I love places like this, because it's chill, casual, and a little cooky. No reservations and you can wear sweatpants.

***

There were so many places that Jake and I missed this week like the Himalayan Curry & Grill, Altana Rooftop Lounge, Tellus 360, Federal Taphouse, and Pressroom (to name a few.)

As amateur foodies, we'll be sure to check them out once the weather heats up.

Until next time, Restaurant Week! Thanks for the good eats!
